Finally---Ketchikan, Alaska

At 8:15 am, we left Prince Rupert on the Matanuska ferry for Ketchikan.  Once we had gotten our car checked in and our place in line, Mom realized that she had forgotten her purse at the hotel.  A taxi delivered the purse within 20 minutes and all was fine.  The ferry was great and we were thrilled with the food, which was significantly less expensive than what we had been paying in Canada.  A hamburger in Banff National Park was $17.00.  We slept on the ferry for most of the 6 hours to Ketchikan.  It was raining so I don't think we missed much in the way of scenery.  Our rental vacation home in Ketchikan is perfect.  It has trails through beautiful woods, plenty of private beach front, a hand-built boathouse, and a wonderful home.  The view is outstanding.

Anna found this photo of Charlie Chaplin in the boathouse loft.  We all thought of you, Jamie.
